Web Page Building Options Explored

This is a test of using Microsoft Word to create a web page. I'm using Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac, so you probably have a more advanced version. I created a new page and will place a couple of pages in a folder to see how this works.

We're discussing various tools to use to build pages. Links to my examples:

á      hand-coded

á      Comcast PWP tool (PWP = Personal Web Page)

á      Kompozer

á      iWeb - simple and instruments

á      Microsoft Word with multiple pages and images stored here
(genealogy page someone built with Word)

á      Microsoft Word with a single page and image linked and uploaded beside the page

None of these are particularly good examples of how to use the tools. They are existence proofs.

I created an extra page so that I could see how to do relative page links. Right-click (control-click on Mac) on the hyperlinks to edit them.

Is a picture worth a thousand words? Or does it just make the page more interesting? I'm not sure how I want to insert an image here. I put an image in the directory with the document and added the image here. Word created a folder called index_files and put a copy of my image into that folder. So I guess I don't need the copy of the image in the directory as well. That would be an issue if this were a big file. But it's only 44KB.
