58. Orin MORSE was born in 1798. He died on May 26, 1876.²³ He was buried in Abbott, ME. Went to California in 1849 for the gold rush. Helen Dow (#66) was given a gold locket as one result of his venture.

1. Orrin Morse, b. 10/17/1798; son of Joseph and Abiah (Bent) Morse.


Lists Middleboro, Plymouth County, MA and Salem, MA
2. Orrin Morse, b. 2/12/1807 in Worcester, MA; son of Joseph and Sally.

The Maine Families - 1790 series does show an "Obrin" Morse, b. Georgetown, ME 5/12/1799, but indicates that he died unmarried. Georgetown records confirm only his birth.

Old Cemetery, Abbot, gives death date of 5/26/1876; age 77 yrs., 6 mos., indicating birth date as about Nov. 1798.

These data suggest that Orin had an earlier marriage, wife unidentified.

Records at Old Cemetery, Abbot, ME, show burial of son, Thomas, who died 11/29/1860 at age 3 yrs., 5 mo. (this age may be questionable as it is identical with age at death of Guy Snow {RIN-72} buried in same plot. Orin MORSE and Lucy Jane BUCK were married in 1837.

59. Lucy Jane BUCK was born on October 20, 1817 in New Gloucester, ME. She died on September 20, 1902 in Cambridge, ME. She was buried in Abbott, ME. Moved from New Gloucester to Monson, ME in 1876, according to some info. However, children are listed as being born in Monson and Abbott where Lucy was buried


In 1880 census, after husband had died, Lucy J. is shown as in the household of Erastis and Abby House in Abbott, ME. Erastis, a teamster, was 38; his wife, 32. Lucy shown as 61.

	ii.	Evelyn Dunn MORSE was born on May 1, 1839 in Monson, ME. She died on August 30, 1923 in Foxcroft, ME. Married her cousin -- Dr. William Buck Spent a year or so (as did #96) attending Westbrook Seminary in Portland staying with #641. Went to teach afterwards. Lived in Dover-Foxcroft, ME
29	iii.	Helen Ballou MORSE.
	iv.	Orra Jane MORSE was born in 1849 in Abbott, ME. She died on May 29, 1871. IGI gives her name as Ora. Also IGI shows marriage pf Ora to Bricendo Amendes Fassett, in Abbot, about 1870.
	v.	Thomas O. MORSE was born about June 1857 in Abbott, ME. He died on November 29, 1860 in Abbott, ME.
