236. Moses BUCK PVT was born on November 26, 1760 in New Gloucester, ME. He died on August 24, 1826 in Sumner, ME. He was buried in Hersey Cemetery, Damon Rd., Sumner, ME. Enlisted in Revolutionary War March 3, 1777 from New Gloucester, ME Marched from New Gloucester to Peekskill. Records in State House at Augusta, ME "Mass. soldier & sailor in Rev. Vol. II, p. 7.

New Gloucester founded by grant of General Court to 60 inhabitants of Gloucester, MA. in 1735. It was incorporated in 1794 (29th town). MAINE PLACE NAMES - Ava Harriet Chadbourne; Furbush-Roberts Pub. Co., Inc., Bangor, ME, 1955. It is interesting to note that S.A.R. book lists Moses' birthplace as Gloucester, MA, but there is no record of such in V.R. of Glouc.

Sumner named for Increase Sumner, Gov. MA 1797-1799. First settled by Charles Bisbee of Pembroke, MA in 1783. At first, Sumner was the western part of Butterfield (Hartford was the eastern part). In 1798, Hartford and Sumner were separated and Sumner was inc. Butterfield Plantation was land granted by Court to Samuel Butterfield of Dunstable, MA in 1781. Moses BUCK PVT and Hannah C. CHUBB were married on March 16, 1781.

237. Hannah C. CHUBB was born in 1763. She was buried in Hersey Cemetery, Damon Rd., Sumner, ME. Children were:

Sarah (Polly) BUCK was born on December 10, 1782. She died on May 9, 1828.

Ephraim BUCK was born on December 22, 1784.

Daniel Clement BUCK was born. He died. He was christened.

Hannah BUCK was born on March 8, 1792. She died on June 13, 1797.

David Clement BUCK was born on June 17, 1799.
