20. James MCDERMOTT was born on August 15, 1804 in , Co. Wexford, Ireland.¹³ He immigrated in April 1837 to New York City, NY.¹³ He was naturalized in March 1851 in Providence, RI.⁴¹ He died on August 23, 1886 in 234 Water St., Lawrence, MA.⁴² He was buried in St. Mary's Cem., Lawrence, MA. Family "lore" (clearly inaccurate in several instances) indicated that James and Frances had 16 (or 18) children, all but 6 of which died in infancy. Of the 6, 4 died in their 20's of TB.

21. Frances F. BRENNAN was born about 1810 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on March 11, 1892 in Lawrence, MA.⁴³ Cause of death= Asthemia w/bronchitis, cardiac asthemia; L.D. 5-110 Age=82

Residence at time if death- 35 Concord St. Lawrence, MA; same address as that of her sister Ann (Brennan) Lynch, who died a year later. Children were:

	i.	Catherine MCDERMOTT was born about 1832 in , Ireland. She died before 1861. Came to U.S. on ship REPUBLICAN,arr. NY 5 JUL 1837; Passenger list gives age as 4 yrs. No record found of her marriage to Peter Holihan. Since Peter married Jane Brennan, Catherine's aunt, in 1861, it is clear that Catherine had died by then. No record of her death has been found.
	ii.	Michael MCDERMOTT was born on October 1, 1833 in Dublin (?), Ireland. He died on March 27, 1856 in Lawrence, MA.44 He was buried in St. Mary's Cem., Lawrence, MA. Information from death record: Residence - 17 Pacific St. Lawrence, MA Cause of death= Consumption; L.D. 1-54 age = 22 yrs., 5 mos., 27 days Date of birth determined from this record. Occupation - Mill operative Came to U.S. at age 3 (passenger list info - see RIN 196)

	iv.	William H. MCDERMOTT was born on February 4, 1842 in Tiverton, RI. He was christened on February 25, 1842 in St. Mary Parish, Fall River, MA. He died on September 9, 1865 in Lawrence, MA.45 He was buried. Occupation - Boilermaker Cause of death= Brain Fever; L.D. 2-21 Residence - Water St. Lawrence, MA Sponsors at Baptism were: James Dempsey and Jane Brennan (R-274)
	v.	Thomas MCDERMOTT was born on April 20, 1845 in Tiverton, RI. He was christened on April 28, 1845 in St. Mary Parish, Fall River, MA. He died on July 4, 1868 in Lawrence, MA. Cause of death= consumption; L.D. 2-50 Residence - Water St. Lawrence, MA Sponsors at Baptism were: Ann Brennan (R-456 or 273?) and Henry Olden.
	vi.	Frances J. MCDERMOTT was born on January 22, 1847 in Tiverton, RI. She was christened on February 6, 1847 in St. Mary Parish, Fall River, MA. She died. L.M. 4-27 Sponsors at Baptism were: John Brennan and Catherine Brennan.
	vii.	George MCDERMOTT was born on September 7, 1850 in Tiverton, RI.46 He was christened on September 15, 1850 in St. Mary Parish, Fall River, MA.46 He died on July 7, 1853 in Tiverton, RI.47 Citation cites age at death as 5; clearly incorrect. Citation cites parents as James and Ellen; clearly an error. Cause of death - Measles. Sponsors at Baptism were: James Brennan (R-457?) and Margaret Naughton. Apparently died early; not in family in 1960 Census.
	viii.	James MCDERMOTT died on July 7, 1853 in Tiverton, RI.48 Citation lists parents as James & Ellen (should be Frances) Does not list age at death; no birth record. Cause of death - Measles Same date and disease as brother George. He was born in Tiverton, RI.
