Birthdate taken from information on family given in OLD FAMILIES OF SALISBURY AND AMESBURY by Hoyt. TBOD indicates that he came to America from England about 1633, first to Ipswich, later to Salisbury and Amesbury. The LDS Ancestral File indicates he was b. abt. 1630 in Salisbury, although no confirmation of that is presently known.

If the England birth is assumed, one possibility for his forebear is, taken from the LDS IGI: Philipe Challis, chr. 1/6/1570 at Study Camps, Cambridgeshire; s. of Robert and Anis Lytlechilde. Phillip Watson CHALLIS Lt. and Mary SARGENT were married about 1652 in Amesbury, MA.

1539. Mary SARGENT was born in 1634 in Amesbury, MA. She died on September 27, 1716 in Amesbury, MA. She was christened. Mary was dau. of William Sargent (1602-1675). He is indicated to have married three times: (1) Judith PERKINS/SHATSWELL (abt. 1612 - ) (2) Elizabeth PERKINS (3) Joanna (PINDOR)ROWELL, Amesbury, 9/18/1670.

Mary is indicated to be the second of 7 children; it is not clear which of the three wives is her mother. Children were:
