2. Shoot in indirect sunlight, indoors. (Direct sunlight outside is usually too bright; your pix will come out overexposed, and too contrasty with lots of glare.)
3. Place bead in a tupperware-type tub of regular table salt.
4. As you move in closer the camera loses focus.
5. Tilt it towards where the salt meets the tub wall and the camera will quickly focus on the salt. For some reason it likes to focus there.
6. Then slowly move it back to the bead.This shot was zoomed in slightly.
7. The shots below show how close the camera is to the bead.
8. The side of the tub serves the same steadying function as a tripod.
9. You have to be careful not to create a shadow with the camera or your hand.
10. To cut down on glare you can position the bead in the shadowy part of the salt.
