The R.V. Snow Goose

Exploration and Research in Bellingham Bay

The Snow Goose is a 65' steel hulled marine research vessel designed to provide hands-on experience in marine science.

Local teachers (grades 4-12) have been taking advantage of the Snow Goose for several years now. With financial support from such groups as the Bellingham Central Lions Club and Bellingham Bay Rotary teachers are able to incorporate the applied sciences of marine biology into their teaching curriculum.

During each 4-hour cruise of the Snow Goose, groups of 4-6 students rotate through the four different learning stations located on board: Navigation & Chart Reading, Plankton Collection and Identification, Water Quality and Marine Mammal and Bird Observation.

This is a program that Bellingham Central is very proud to support. It is a fantastic resource for local educators and a great way to make learning fun and exciting for our youth.
