Combined Israel Education Committee Lecture Series
begins October 14, 2009
The 7th annual series of CIEC lectures about Israel will be
held at 7:45 pm at
Congregation Beth
El-Atereth Israel.

Prof. Barry Rubin: "How Western Policies
are Heading for Disaster in the Middle East"
Barry Rubin will look into the future and provide insight
into the impact of the Obama administration policies,
particularly in regard to Iran. Prof.Rubin is Director of the
Global Research for International Affairs (GLORIA) Center;
editor of the Middle East Review of International Affairs
(MERIA) Journal, and writer for the Middle East column at The
Jerusalem Post.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper: "The Words
Israelis Want to Hear from President Obama"
Rabbi Cooper is Associate Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center
and its Museum of Tolerance, a leading Jewish human rights
organization. He has been a longtime activist for Jewish and
human rights causes on five continents. For three decades, Rabbi
Cooper has overseen the Wiesenthal Center's international social
action agenda—from worldwide anti-semitism and extremist
groups, to Interfaith Relations and the struggle to thwart
campaigns to de-legitimize Israel.
Lecture 3: Monday, November 9, 2009
Dr. Martin Peretz: "Reflecting on the
Post-Bush Mideast"
Martin Peretz will give insight into the current era of
U.S.-Israel relations. Dr. Peretz is Editor-in-Chief of The
New Republic, a Washington-based journal of politics and
culture. He has taught Social Studies at Harvard University,
focusing on the classics of social thought and on issues of
nationalism, ethnicity, and political identity.
