Father Judge High School Biblical Commentary Project

Welcome to the Father Judge High School sophomore year biblical commentary.  Begun in December of 2007, this project will grow each semester with additional contributions from the Honors Theology II students of Mr. Dolan.

Internet visitors to this site are invited to peruse what the students have produced.  While Mr. Dolan will be evaluating and grading the students’ commentaries, that assessment is not reflected online.  Instead, the raw work of the students is offered with its strengths and weaknesses unidentified.  Thus, one should not rely on these projects for an authoritative analysis, though they might be suggestive for one’s own research.

Use of Sources in the Commentary

The students were directed to be painstakingly cautious about proper credit of sources and avoiding plagiarism.  Nonetheless, unintentional lapses can occur.  Should a visitor find any copyrighted material used without the express permission of the copyright owner, please alert Mr. Dolan for a prompt response.

By consenting to having their work published online, the student authors of the individual commentaries take responsibility for their work and use of sources.

For students

If students other than the contributors use material from these commentaries, please observe the standards of source citation.  If you take the exact words, indicate your indebtedness with quotation marks and provide either a hyperlink or a proper bibliographic citation.  If you paraphrase or summarize material from the Father Judge High School biblical commentary, do not use quotation marks, but still provide either a hyperlink or a proper bibliographic citation.

Citing Material from This Commentary Project

Students should consult their teacher about what citation format is required.  For those writing a paper on biblical literature, expect to use one of the following standardized formats:  MLA (Modern Language Association), APA (American Psychological Association), or Turabian/University of Chicago.  If your teacher has no preference and you are unsure how to credit a web-based commentary, you might use the following as a model:

Woltemate, T. J. and C. M. Weidner.  “David’s Adultery (2 Sam. 11.1-5).”  Father Judge High School Biblical Commentary.  Dec. 2007.  10 Feb. 2008 <http://home.comcast.net/~bible-commentary/2Sam.11.1-5.htm>.
