Greg Vadasdi and Dan Protz are 98 Graduates of Dartmouth College (The Big Green) where they rowed on the heavyweight crew team. They have climbed together for the past 5 years and have summitted several peaks over 10,000 feet. The highest was Denali, Alaska (20,320') followed by Mt. Elbrus, Russia (18,510'). In March they successfully completed the New Zealand Ironman and climbed in New Zealand's south island.
Greg (28) was born in Budapest. He and his family lived there and in
Sao Paulo Brazil before moving to New York City. Greg started climbing at 13, he has climbed extensively and is an accomplished technical climber. His highest summit is Ama Dablam, Nepal (22,488') in 2004. He enjoys outdoor athletics and has completed 7 Ironman competitions. Since graduating from Dartmouth he has been working in investment banking and private equity.
Dan (28) was born and raised in Manitowoc, WI. He started climbing in 1995 on a Nols trip to British Columbia. After Dartmouth he rowed for the U.S. National Team and was a member of the winning coxed four at the 1999 World Championships in Canada. Since graduation Dan has run a rowing nonprofit and worked in the hedge fund industry. He plans to attend the Stanford Graduate School of Business this fall.
Dan and Greg have contracted with Asian Trekking for two Sherpas, a cook and helper to join the expedition team. Asian Trekking has provided support to Himalayan climbers for over 20 years and has taken 130 expeditions to Everest. They are known for their experienced high altitude Sherpas and well trained support staff. The team's Sherpas are Ang Mingma Sherpa (37) and Mingma Dorjee Sherpa (38). Both Sherpas have successfully summited Everest via the Northeast ridge. Saila Tamang (41) is the cook and Krishna Sunwar (35) is the helper.
