Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico.  The Scuba Guy and thirty-two Houston area divers landed in Cozumel July 28, 2008 for The 7th Annual Bill Jones Cozumel Vacation The travelers arrived in Cozumel well before lunch and checked-in at the beautiful  HOTEL COZUMEL & RESORT HOTEL.  Some of the divers did a couple of shore dives and two afternoon boat dives on the first day.  The group proclaimed Peña Coladas, Dos Equi's, and Cuba Libra's as the official drinks of the group in the hotel’s all-inclusive bars.  Eight travelers stayed for five days and twenty-four travelers stayed eight days picking up thirty-six new diving certifications.

The HOTEL COZUMEL & RESORT HOTEL is a hacienda-style 178-room resort with an on-site full-service PADI Gold Palm Dive Center that quickly became the rendezvous point for the group after the buffet breakfast each morning.  The diving day started with two-tank boat dives with divers enjoying dive sites as far south as Punta Sur.  Green Sea Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles, Moray Eel, Manta Ray, King Crab, Lobsters, Blacktip Reef Sharks and Gray Reef Sharks were spotted by the divers.  More fish were seen on this trip than ever including huge Groupers, Triggerfish, Angelfish, Parrotfish, Palometa, Scorpionfish, Butterflyfish, Hogfish, Snapper, Squirrelfish, and Tomtate just to name a few.  The night diving was great.  Lots of friendly Octopus were encountered.  The beautiful Cozumel beaches and crystal clear water are always a delight to everyone.

Each afternoon the group split up, some going to town for shopping, some making afternoon boat and shore dives, and some relaxing in one of the hotel bars.  Divers made use of the wireless internet included in the trip package.  Some travelers rented Jeeps and motor scooters.  Some divers took a side trip to Holbox to swim with the Whale Sharks.  One group took a trip to Chichen-Itza, the most important and extraordinary city of the Mayan civilization, to discover the magnificence of pyramids built by one of the greatest civilizations of the ancient world.  The group ate dinner at the hotel while some went to restaurants, clubs, and taquerias in San Miguel.

After checking-in at the Cozumel airport for the return flight, the group met one last time at the airport coffee shop and all agreed they had a great time prompting travelers to want to make the trip again next year.  Planning for The 8th Annual Bill Jones Cozumel Vacation on July 27, 2009 is already underway.
