Friendswood
Texas: MARIJO ANN GRABE was
killed in an automobile accident Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Born in San
Antonio, she was 60 years old. Her smile and personality brightened scuba
parties and meetings the moment she walked through the door. Whether she was
snowmobiling in New Mexico, exploring historic castles in Europe, or scuba
diving with whale sharks in Cozumel Mexico, she knew how to enjoy life and the
friends around her.
Grabe earned her first Open Water certification in 1987. She became re-certified in 2004 and would go on to earn her Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air Nitrox, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Boat Diver, Drift Diver, Deep Diver, and Fish Identification certifications. She planned to continue with her Rescue Diver certification this coming spring earning her the Master Scuba Diver certification.
Grabe is survived by her parents Jack and Geneva Landon, brother Jack, daughters Hilary and Alison, and her companion and Lunarfins member John Gorman Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
I was privileged to have known her and enjoyed having her in my scuba classes and having her join me on three of our Cozumel vacations. Many of the Bay Area Divers members had become friends with Grabe through scuba classes and Cozumel vacations.
