The Hexagonal Porcupine is to Hectix as the 18-Piece Burr (e.g. Lovely) is to the 6-Piece Burr. There are 12 rods in each of the 4 directions as compared to Hectix's 3 rods.

Sample pieces are shown in the second picture. The inner rods have unusual notches. It takes several moves to get out the first piece.

If one of the center pieces in the puzzle were notched around all pieces it hits, it would not be split in two, but would have a very delicate helical structure.

Models made in 2006 use 4 woods. Back-orders are being filled in 2006 and 2007. Additional puzzles should be available in 2007.
