PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

1983-Present - INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, United Technologies Corporation
* A variety of projects and support opportunities including: designing and implementing visual workplace displays, building prototype equipment to demonstrate product principles and feasibility studies; finishing on time and under budget.

* Manage the audio/visual, telecom and data portion of a million dollar auditorium renovation; saving $100,000 on that portion of the budget, with my responsibilities completed on time.

* Design and support of high tech conference rooms to include multimedia PCs, electronic whiteboards, projection systems, audio systems, and video conferencing.

* Administer the Lucent (AVAYA) Definity PBX and Intuity voice mail system. Oversee Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) initiatives including server and client work. Provide user support and training in the use of these systems. Evaluate telecommunication system upgrades and enhancements. Provide timely support to users including moves, changes, and repairs.

* Oversee the cut over from a Rolm telephone switch with Octel voice mail to a Lucent switch and voice mail. This included the desktop roll out of CTI packages for graphical voice mail access and PC-based phone directory and control software with automatic X500 directory downloads. Software products included Lucent's Message Manager and Ccom's PhoneLine.

* Support PC users experiencing hardware and software problems. Worked with various applications including DOS, Windows, Microsoft Office, terminal emulators, use of the internet, desktop publishing, remote access, and other products. Involved in the rollout and support of Windows 95 and associated applications to networked PCs.

* Maintain on-site computer systems. This included preventive and corrective maintenance, installation and re-configuration of large-scale computers, minicomputers, workstations and peripherals. The equipment consisted mostly of Digital Equipment PDP11 and VAX systems. Work in this area involved supporting and giving leadership to other technicians. I was also involved with designing specialized equipment, and working with engineers to interface various products and test equipment to computer systems.

1976-1983 - FIELD SERVICE, Digital Equipment Corporation
* Started as a Field Service Account Representative, providing maintenance for a customer base consisting mainly of universities, hospitals and laboratories. Served as an important focal point for Digital/customer relations. Worked on the PDP 11 and VAX line of computers and peripherals.

* Later worked as Senior Field Engineer to provide the first line of technical support to other service representatives, as well as providing training seminars. Involved in special projects including research of technical information and service statistics.

* Received letters of appreciation and commendation from customers.

1974-1976 - QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN, Bunker Ramo Corporation
* Worked as in-house Quality Assurance Technician, performing final testing and repair of out-going computer equipment, often trouble-shooting to a component level.

* Equipment included: computer time sharing equipment (Mini Multi Stations), programmable bank terminals (2001 Universal Teller Terminal), specialized banking computer (BCS 90).

1975 LAB INSTRUCTOR, Connecticut School of Electronics
* Concurrent Part Time work as Lab Instructor for a night course in Electronics Technology. 

* Assisted new students in lab projects and gave related lectures.

1973-1974 QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN & SUPERVISOR, Edal Industries
* Part Time work while attending school; Inspected in-coming and out-going goods, and maintained the equipment used in the manufacture and testing of semiconductors. Equipment included: semiconductor curve tracers, power supplies and automatic temperature controlled chambers. Also designed and implemented specialized test equipment.

* Also worked as night shift supervisor for semiconductor testing line.
