● WWII Research

I have spent many hours working towards the goal of knowing where the many pictures were taken that my Dad had from his days in the Pacific. As the process unfolded, I have achieved my goal and met several of the survivors or widows of members of Fighting Squadron 35. It has given me a much better understanding of what it must have been like for those who served in the Pacific in our country's defense. Fighting Squadron 35 (VT-35) was a carrier-based group of torpedo and dive bombers. They were aboard the carrier escort USS Chenango (CVE-28), a converted oiler. Thanks to all my new friends who helped me out tremendously in this effort: Janiece Brannen, Ernie Klindt, Tim Mitcham, Bart Mitcham, Jack Glass, Bill Shinneman, Bob Fischer, Bill & Roberta Gentry, Al Karchem, Bob Secora, Kevin Stickley, Clark & Barbara Wooldridge, and Morgan Bradley.

Explore the photos and websites that I have accumulated during this very satisfying task by visiting the WWII links and The Life of AF Williamson on the left side of this page.

● Santa Pictures
1993

Ever since Tyler was born in 1993, he has been to see the jolly man every Christmas one way or another. Joining Tyler two years later was Ryan and from then on the two of them were consistent in their annual migration to a nearby Santa Clause. I have presented a photo gallery here that is missing only one year (1994). It looks like there wasn't a 1994 photo of Tyler with Santa. Oops!

Nevertheless, the many years that are present are a great way to see them growing year after year.

● Kim and the Boys
Kim and Tyler 5/24/1994

Tyler was very photogenic in his first year. He liked the pool at the apartment complex where we lived in South Carolina back in 1994. He and Kim are seen here hanging out by the pool. I just happened to be passing by with a camera! Yeah, right!

Boy, how time has flown by. We tried a townhouse when we moved to Atlanta a few months after this photo was taken, but decided right away that it was not going to be a healthy place to raise Tyler.

Kim and Ryan 7/20/1996Ryan was really interested in my great aunt's dog named "Tiny" back in 1996 . It was probably the very first dog he had ever seen. He wanted to get his hands on her. If Kim hadn't been holding him back, who knows what might have happened?

That great aunt who lived in Blue Mountain, Alabama has since passed away but we'll never forget the kindness she showed both Tyler and Ryan when we would visit her. She made quilts the old-fashioned way. When I told her how big Tyler was at his birth (a measly 7 lbs 10 oz), she informed me that all of her babies were 10-pounders and she delivered them all at home. She was quite a woman.
