At
first I was leaning toward a completely stock rebuild. But, to be
honest, as much as I love meticulously restored Musclecars, I knew
I wouldn't be satisfied with the performance level. So, the plan
is to build it up a bit using a carefully selected parts
combination. I used the following resources to help me choose the
right combination to meet my performance goals. |

I
hoped to have my GTX run in the 12's so I checked the MP catalog's
High Performance Tips and studied their equipment combinations.
Developed by Mopar Performance Parts engineers, the combinations
of compatible parts are specified for various performance levels.
In keeping with their "package" approach, their
recommendations include engine, driveline and chassis parts.

The
MP Catalog doesn't go into a lot of detail so I dragged out my
trusty "Direct Connection" Performance Book. This darn
thing is as thick as a phone book! It contains a complete
collection of all the factory racing manuals. Inside is extremely
detailed information on race proven engine, driveline and chassis
modifications.

The
title of this book is a little bit misleading. It is from S-A
Design Publishing, not Chrysler Corp. (It was written when
Chrysler's performance parts program was called "Direct
Connection") It has been a very good source of
information pertaining to parts identification, selection,
inspection, and preparation. The engine
"blueprinting" instructions include detailed photos to
illustrate what's covered in the text.

I
would strongly recommend Big Block Mopar Performance from HP
Books. It's by Muscle
Motors owner Chuck Senatore. Inside you'll find a wealth of
information about building big block Mopar engines. It covers the
latest in blocks, heads and high performance internal components.
It also details several popular B & RB "Stroker
Motor" combinations
