Our Aerospace Related "Fun"
(Some items from Northern Ohio Site)

Many of these activities can be tried at home with
proper supervision using inexpensive materials.
Others are reading and learning experiences.

DAI - Airplane Design
Try your hand at the design of a 200 passenger airliner,   flying from Washington D.C. to the destination of   your choice. You may modify the airplanes wings,   tails, engine, fuselage, and cruise settings by clicking on   small pictures. Once the parameters are chosen your   design is analized and displayed.
Note: (Before you click the start button to "load" the   "WELCOME" or operating window right click the   "Announcement" frame and open the link as a new     window. When you are done close that window.)

DAI - Applied Aerodynamics - A Digital Textbook
VThese notes were developed for a first-year graduate-   level course in applied aerodynamics at Stanford    University, but are appropriate for undergraduate    aeronautics courses and others.

   VIII: Rockets_
You can make a rocket from an empty pop bottle. Then    pressurize with an air pump, Alka-Seltzer, vinegar and    soda, and you have a working rocket. Using "bottle    rocket" keywords we found many (!) sites. Here are    three (first from Northern Ohio):

Rocket's Away  Real Fun! Launch A Water Rocket
Topics of Beginner's Guide to Model Rockets
  A NASA Site
  Water Rocket Fun and Education

   IX: Egg Drop Experiment
Drop a protected egg from a high altitude on to a hard    surface without breaking the egg. Sort of like bringing in    the Pathfinder lander experiment for a soft landing on    the planet Mars:

   X: Structural Design
Let's say you are interested in aerospace structures.    Usually this involves the lightest structure that meets the    requirements. Try designing a lightweight straw tower    that supports the load.
