I live in Salem Oregon with
my partner Judy. I call Mainstream and Plus square dances in the Willamette
Valley area in Oregon. In addition to square dancing Judy and I enjoy
fishing, hiking and camping (if you can call 5th wheeling
camping). I originally started square
dancing in college at Oregon State University in 1972. I learned to call in
1973 after college and called until 1979 when I quit square dancing to raise
a family. I got back into square dancing
in 1993 when my wife (Janet) and I joined the Silver Spinners, a wheelchair
square dance club in Kaiser Oregon. With my two children (William &
Carolyn), my sister Gail and my parents, I took square dance lessons in 1994.
In 1995 I took calling lessons with my son from the Capital Callers and Cuers
Association in Salem Oregon. I started calling for the
Silver Spinners Wheelchair Square Dance Club in 1996. I called for the Silver
City Squares in Silverton Oregon from 2001 through 2007. I started calling
for the Albany Timber Twirlers in 2003. I still call for the Albany Timber
Twirlers and the Silver Spinners. I am a member of the Capital Callers and
Cuers Association in Salem Oregon and have been a member of Callerlab since
1995. When selecting his music I
like faster, up tempo music (foot tappers) and gravitate to pop country, old
rock’n roll, Latin and songs from musicals. I found it extremely difficult to
limit my selection of music to 8 patter and 8 singing calls.
