If
you haven’t noticed yet, probably the most important part of any good anime.
At least in my opinion is Romance. Now don’t get me wrong I like a good Fight
scene like the next guy and I don’t necessarily want a WAFFY, Sweet, Sappy
Romance. But Hey; Love is what
makes the World Go Round.
Besides;
who doesn’t laugh when InuYasha makes a four foot crater when he’s dumb
enough to tell Kagome the best part of her whole lunch; BTW that she made
special for him; was the pickles. No,
Romance is definitely the best part of any story; Anime or otherwise.
I’ll start the Greatest, and Most Loved as well as Maligned… Ikari Shinji and Ayanami Rei.
Before
the DieHard Asuka/Shinji fans swamp my E-mail with tons of nasty grams,
Let me say “I do not Despise Asuka/Shinji pairings, go take a look at
my FanFic page and read thru my list of favorites. There are a good number of
A/S stories in the list. Maybe I like so many of them because it’s NOT my
favorite Coupling; and as you continue reading this page you will probably note
a large number of non-standard pairing being listed.
But
first let me dispel the biggest myth that the afore mentioned DieHards
like to argue: That Rei has Yui’s
DNA in her makeup, which would make her his sister (Yuuck..)
The simple fact is; atleast as I see it is (I
read some somewhere) that only 5% of
Yui’s DNA was used to clone Rei, the vast majority of her DNA came from
Lillith. And at only 5% Rei would not even be considered Yui’s
Great-Granddaughter. She would have to be closer too 3rd or 4th
cousin at best. I know some people who have married distant cousins (so who
cares).
Besides
look at the picture, Don’t they make a cute looking couple.
…Now I will stay here with EVA for just a minute to give proper mention to my next two fav EVA pairings: Asuka/Shinji like I said earlier here Shinji/Rei is my personal preferred pairing (Mainly because I believe they were Fated to be together) The only problem I see here is there too much alike, A big reason that I am not bothered by Shinji/Asuka stories. Here are two people whose personalities are so opposite that its fun to see them together; if only to see all the sparks fly. As much as I like romance, it is important in these stories that they have troubles to overcome and it help to bring to individuals closer together in a relationship. Well here is a pair that would have many issues to work out.
The second choice is a very close tie with Asuka and that is Haroki Hikari; Now most Shinji/Hikari pairings (for more info see: Odd Couples Page) I’ve read tend to have been Lemons but afew out there are very good. So if you look at it from the standpoint that Shinji is the most Normal Pilot it becomes natural to want to see him with the only normal girl in the show. Now in this vain some stories you want to read would be TWS/DWF now this is the only S/H story I have found that I would consider Epic. It is very good and I would recommend reading that. But the best story for this pair I feel is Rakna’s I Used to Love Her stop by my FanFic page for the links.
My next couple is another considered Off Pairing: Sasami & Tenchi Masaki.
To
put it simply Sasami is the best one for Tenchi if only because she is the Only
normal one in the Lot; at least that does really have any feelings for Tenchi.
How about we eliminate the competition first.
Mihoshi Forget about her, she is too much of a Klutz/Ditz to even stay in
the running (Thanks for the correction LG). Washu while she would
gladly take Tenchi she would honestly rather study him for her research. (i.e.
Torture) Now on to the Two other
main competitors: Ryoko – what can I say here while I think she loves
Tenchi(really), she has no household skills of any real value.
Also while she is not crazy she is Most Definitely a WILD CHILD
as this type of gal can be fun to date she is not my choice for the Girl I want
to take home to meet Momma. Last
there is Ayeka. I feel that she may
really love Tenchi also; but I get the feeling that she is settling for him
because she can’t have Yosho. It
makes me think the she want to be the wife of the ruler of Jurai then just
Tenchi’s wife. And lets not
forget she absolutely refuses to let That DEVIL WOMAN best her in
anything.
This
bring us back again to Sasami. (Aaahh,
just look at the picture aren’t they cute together)
I really wanted to use the shot of Sasami sleeping in Tenchi’s lap from
the Sasami & Tsunami episode. Remember
Sasami is the one that keeps the Misaki house running; cooking, cleaning, ect.
Plus she is good at taking care of little kids.
And let us not forget:
This
is what Sasami will grow up to look like in a few years.

Now how about the going to one of my original contemporary Favorites: Akane ► Ranma ► Ukyo <Evil Grin!>

While
I cant help but wish Ranma and Akane would just get Over It and settle down
together. There is still something
to be said about the Differences between Ranma’s Cute and Un-Cute Fiancées.
None of the other girls trying to get Ranma’s attention can even hold a
candle to these two. Mmmm... I
wonder if maybe he could have both….. Nah. (But Maybe)

How
about another Multiple Pairings. Although
this one would be easier to list the Girls that won’t Work:
Keitaro Urashima + Any but Kanako, Sara, or Su
I
take Su out of the running because she really only loves Keitaro like a big
brother, that and I hate to see the poor guy so physically abused.
Then we have Sara; Gee… to her Keitaro will always be The Dork,
or at best her cousin. Last Kanako; What can I say here; I don’t have a problem
with her wanting her Step-Brother. It’s
more that I like her to just cause problems for everyone else.
Now to discuss the girls who are left:
Naru ► From the beginning of the series and as I read the manga’s I was pretty sure she was his real promise girl. I do honestly think that they should be together. (Grin) That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy some of the other possible pairing here. I have this bad habit of liking pairs that sometimes are not considered normal.
So lets GO there for a quick look:
Mutsumi ► Hey she would make the perfect wife (albeit Ditzy) it would make for some fun stories. I would have to worry about what the children would be like though.
Shinobu ► While a little young at the start of the series If you age the story 4+ years with no finalization with Naru. Shinobu would be a Major Competitor for our hero. Besides with Keitaro owning the Inn who better then to have as Wife and Head Cook.
Mitsune ► Okay now I personally can’t see more here then a fling, It sure would make for a funny storyline.
Last but certainly not least: Motoko ► She has the best possible ability to get Keitaro (Outside of Naru) of any of the girls. And she Even Lied to her older sister that he was already her boyfriend. A great place to start any What If tale; and it already has.
How about some of my must stay-together Couples:
