Brandie highly recommends Girl Genius to anyone who enjoys mad scientists, crazy inventions, painfully funny jokes and plots about what IT life could be like if our managers would let us wear clockwork jewelry and funny hats.
Those who get the joke in the above picture earns themselves an official "Marvel No-Prize", but you'll have to write Stan Lee to pick it up. @=)
Database Administrator by day and Author by night Brandie Tarvin sails pirate-populated waters, fights evil robots in disguise and turns kingdoms into chaotic rebellious city-states all while coding ETL processes and protecting real-world data from corruption. If it weren't for her, someone else would have the job and where would be the fun in that?
Brandie's Current Status:
I just received an acceptance for a 2011 anthology.
Tied In: The Business, History and Craft of Media Tie-In Writing just got published and has a chapter written by me.
I've submitted a couple of children's books to a small press and my Viable Paradise wall story to Tor. Still in the hopper are three projects, including rewriting a memoir and a screenplay. I've also done additional Shadowrun work for "PACKS," a character generation tool for GMs and players alike.
I'm planning to present at SQL Saturday 49 in Orlando, FL. I've got new presentations I'm putting together. Please be there if you're in the area or interested in all things SQL.
