Everyone was amazed that Bunkley was still on the board at 14. After Houston passed on Reggie Bush with the first pick, the thought was that anything can happen - which was later confirmed by Buffalo selecting Whitner at 8th overall. Bunkley led this year's top rated DT at both TFL and Sacks. He is the best DL that I have seen drafted by the Eagles in the Reid era. Bunkley along with the Darren Howard acquisition will make for the best D-Line since the days of Reggie White and Jerome Brown.

I'm of the growing opinion that the Eagles should trade out of this position either up or down. The most probable candidates that may be available at 14 are McNeill, Justice, Greenway, and Sims. If McNeill checks out medically, he would be preferable. Rumors have been negative about McNeill's back. If true, he would be too much of a risk here and Justice would be preferred although I have him being picked before the 14th in the NFL Mock Draft. The addition of an OT would free Herremans from any potential subbing for Tra Thomas and solidify the OL with his presence at Left OG. If the Eagles can work out a trade up, Ngata or Bunkley is their pick. This is a rare opportunity for the Eagles starting with the 14th pick. They need to take advantage of the situation and emerge with one of the elite DT or OT. Assuming that the Eagles become stuck at 14, Greenway is a "can't miss" pick at OLB who can play SAM and cover TE. I have deviated from the consensus and have Greenway rated higher than Sims who will probably be drafted before him.
Others: Ernie Sims LB, Marcus McNeill OT, Winston Justice OT.
Possible Trade-ups: Haloti Ngata DT, Brodrick Bunkley DT, D Ferguson OT, AJ Hawk LB, Michael Huff DB.
Possible Trade-downs: Santonio Holmes WR, Chad Jackson WR, Sinorice Moss WR, Antonio Cromartie CB, Lendale White RB. |

Players that had any type of questionable character issues suffered precipitously in the Draft. Speculation was that the new "TO Clause" of the Player's Agreement has raised the risk factor of such players. From a talent perspective, Justice is a top 15 player and has no right being available in the 2nd Rd. This was lightning striking twice for the Eagles who could not believe their luck. The Eagles OL is formidable, deep and set for years to come.

Colledge is one of the best pass blocking OT in the draft - 2nd only to Ferguson (maybe). He is a perfect LT. Gocong is a very disruptive DE with a highly active motor. Gocong rushes with excellent leverage and balance and uses his hands well. The Eagles will try to convert Gocong to SAM which will be a real project. He is an intelligent player but that takes time. I do not look forward to seeing Gocong trying to cover Shockey or Witten. If he does not workout at SAM or backup ILB, he should be a Trent Cole type of a player - which is a good thing.

Jean-Gilles is very strong at the point of attack. He is the type of Guard that will wear down defenders. He is also very capable in pass protection. He surrendered just 3 sacks in his career. The prospect of Jean-Gilles and Andrews at Guard is a nightmare for opposing DT and NT.

A shifty Kick Returner with excellent vision and anticipation. He will be interesting to watch to see how he comes back from his layoff from Football and whether his talents translate to the NFL. Because of his size, combined with a lack of elite speed, I do not believe that he will be effective as a WR but will help the Special Teams. GRADE B+ |

Omar has had a disappointing Senior year. The promise demonstrated during his Junior year was never built upon. He is very good in coverage but appears to be a finesse player. He is an intelligent LB who must learn the Eagles downhill style and complicated LB position. Very good value here that I see best suited for the nickel package or SAM. GRADE A |
