The Eagles signed Free Agent Jevon Kearse DE to a reported 8 year, $66 million contract.
This is only the second big-time FA signing in the Andy Reid Era.
Ironically, the first also was recruited from the Titans - John Runyan. An additional coincidence is that Kearse will resume the same practice position with the
Eagles opposite of Runyan as when they were both
Titans. But lets not remind Kearse
until after the physical that he still needs to pass on
This is a good deal for both Kearse
and the Eagles. The Eagles will have wonderful depth at DE and it will be
an interesting camp to see last year's draft pick Jamaal Green battle Kalu for a spot on the roster. Also, it will allow McDougle time to develop at a gentleman's pace. For Kearse, the depth at DE will mean that he will not need to
play DE every down. Kearse is a small lineman
and will need to avoid being worn down.
Kearse should be good for 10 to 12
sacks next season. Good job Eagles! Now lets
get LB Marcus Washington or Dhani Jones before they
are off the market!
