Davis v. Newton
Reality to Be Final Court of Appeal
This summer, California
Governor Gray Davis is going to put Issac Newton on trial and see what
happens.
Physics and the laws of
nature are interfering with all the wonderful things that the Governor wants:
- More growth. We need more growth. Bring your family to California and feel the
opportunity! We’ll even let
you build a house near Silicon Valley, so long as there are no protected
snail darters in the vicinity.
- More electricity! Got to have more electricity, these blackouts are
starting to look politically incorrect.
- No more power plants! We stopped allowing power plants
to be built a decade ago, and with good reason. Polls show that a majority of
Californians do not like power plants within five miles of their
house. Let the record show,
our administration gives the public what it wants.
- Besides, I can’t upset the environmental
lobby; they’ve got clout and influence right now. Their unbiased scientists say
that every possible method of producing light, except candles, will
result in a massive tidal wave that turns Arizona into ocean front
property. (They’ve even
programmed this image into computers, so it must be accurate.) My citizens, the power plants
don’t care if the ocean swallows you all up. They’ll drown you in salt water for a few extra
dollars.
Thank you, Governor, for
caring. If only we all cared so
much, and if only electricity flowed in direct response to how much we care,
I’m sure we’d all feel more illumined.
I support the Governor’s
bold experiment. The guy is
actually going to take on Newton – you can’t chase a bigger windmill than
that! This summer, we’ll
discover first-hand if an act of will – inside the Governor’s mind – has the
power to prevent physical causes from becoming physical effects – in reality.
Court is now in session.
