To make this paper bag kite you will need:  

any size paper bag		scissors
pencil		ruler
paints		brushes
cardboard		glue
glitter		kite string

  Note: lunch bags make a great "backpackable" kite.   1. Paint and decorate the bag to look like a bird, a butterfly, or a fish. Let the paint dry. Then brush lightly with glue and sprinkle with glitter (optional).   2. Measure the bottom of the bag with the ruler. Cut a piece of cardboard large enough to fit snugly into the bottom of the bag.   3. Then cut an oval out of the cardboard to make a frame, leaving at least 1" at the narrowest points.
  4. Cut a notch 1/4" deep at the center point of each side of the frame.
  5. Cut four 1' lengths of kite string. Attach one piece of string at each notch in the frame. Bring all four pieces of string together and tie.
  6. Cut an oval hole in the bottom of the bag about the same size but not larger than the one in the cardboard frame. Place the frame inside the bag. Pull the attached strings through the hole in the bag, and tie them to the end of the kite string.   Happy flying!
