I'm going to start this one off with a little bit of background on my life and myself. I have been married for 13 years and I am the mother of 2 wonderful boys. William who is 12 and Jamie who is 7. William is a pretty mellow kid, usually. He's a good student and has an amazing talent for drawing. Jamie is my hell on wheels! He is also a very good student and has an amazing talent for singing; he has an awesome voice for 7 years old. Now I will admit like I have many times before, that I am not the perfect mother but I do the best I can. I am also the Cub Master for Jamie's Cub Scout pack, which consists of about 50 boys ranging in ages from 7 to 11, and I am involved in William's Boy Scout troop.
I'm sure your all wondering where I'm going with all this. Well, what I'm trying to say is....
I MUST BE LOSING MY MIND!!!
For the last 2 1/2 months, besides the kids, the husband, the house, the dog, the Cub Scouts, the Boy Scouts, and all of the rest of the wife and mother duties, I have been spending my time doing other things. These other things consist of: Algebra, Comp. 1, Computer Science & Java, Visual Basic, Web Pages, and Accounting. I am 33 years old and I'm going to college. I wasn't the best student in grade school or in high school. I got by with Cs and an occasional D. I graduated from high school in 1987, and here I am back in school again. What the hell was I thinking??
I have to tell you that I have come to a few conclusions in the last 2 1/2 months:
Conclusion #1
Algebra sucks!!! Whoever the idiot was that decided you could add, subtract, multiply and divide letters and numbers, and do the same with positives, negatives, and fractions; must have been on some seriously illegal drugs.
Conclusion #2
The moron who came up with the language of computers was on even better drugs than the idiot who invented Algebra! From first grade on, the teachers have drilled it into our heads that 1 + 1 = 2. Right?? Well get this, in computer language, which they call Binary Language, 1 + 1 does NOT equal 2. Nope, not even close! Ready for this...1 + 1 = 10, not only that but, in computer language 0 is not ZERO... 0 is FALSE... and 1 is not 1.... 1 is TRUE.
Just typing that shit makes my head hurt!!
Just the other day in Comp.1 as we were waiting for the instructor to show up, some of the other students were chit chatting about what they did over the weekend. All the way around the room I heard about all the parties, and the girls this one met and the guys that one met. How did I spend my weekend? I got to clean the house, cook supper, sew patches on the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Uniforms, and do homework. Sounds like fun huh??
We took our first test in Accounting about a week ago, big deal right? Well, the instructor is a pretty cool guy and he decided to give us a choice. He told us that we could take the test in class on Tuesday and start on the new chapter on Thursday, or, we could start the new chapter on Tuesday and he would give us a take home test that had to be handed back in on Thursday. Hmmmm, lets see, take home test, open book and you get one whole day to do it in? It’s a no brainer right? Well that’s what half of the KIDS in my class thought too. Over half of them raised their hand so we got a take home test. Little did they know that it wasn’t one of those "open the book and have the answer jump right out at you" tests. That damn thing took most of us at least 2½ hours to do and the highest grade in the class was an 82%. They have since been told that the next time they raise their hands for a 'take home' test, they’re going to have their arms ripped off and we’re going to beat the shit out of them with it!
With all that being said, now for my 3rd and final conclusion. At least up to this point anyway. I have come to the conclusion that....
I'M TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT!!!
Stay tuned for future conclusions about my college experience. Hey, I only have 1 1/2 years to go!!
