The Boulder Art Association (BAA) is a non-profit association for beginning, emerging, and professional artists, as well as individuals and businesses contributing to the growth of fine arts in the community. Our purpose is to promote the development, appreciation, and practice of the fine arts among our members. The BAA welcomes all people who would like to learn more about appreciating and creating art. This includes, but is not limited to, those who create art with paint, pastels, pencils, stone, wood, fabric, clay, glass, photography and digital arts.
|
The BAA is partially funded by grants from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and the Boulder Art Commission (BAC).
These are used to sponsor activities that focus on the Boulder community and raise the level of public appreciation of the arts.
|
The Boulder Art Association was founded in 1923 by Jean Sherwood, an art teacher from Chautauqua.
It is the oldest continuously operating art association in Boulder.
Since that time, its members have been active in the Boulder community and participated in the founding of
the Boulder Art Center (now known as the Boulder Museum
of Contemporary Art , the
CU Fine Arts Building , and the Flatirons Center for the Arts (now known as the
.
