Filled our Dish TV Internet web solicitation. Got two phone calls.
$24.99/mo, 110 channels, no installation charge. BUT caller wanted me to agree over phone and would not send email confirming deal.
Second caller said that Dish had received over 50 calls reporting same problem we were having with Comcast TV [Comcast internet, including phone help is very good.]
Comcast TV failed again.
Twenty-five minute wait resulted in Kyle conversation. What we heard while waiting 25 minutes.
Fortunately, we were on computer - looking at news and playing solitaire and hearts.
No response Saturday December 11, 2010.
Second try.
No response.
We got a bid for $40/mo for one year and $19.99 installation at Ultimate from Direct TV.
Fifteen minute wait for phone help terminated about 12:15 Saturday December 11, 2010.
Comcast appears to locate most of its software in RAM. Interesting. CISCO produced the set-top box for Comcast.
Our 8051/Forth51/Windows 2000, XP, and 7 project is very similar to what Cisco/Xfinity/Comast has done.

But we're going to do wireless and low-power modes. But the Comcast set-top box may be doing wireless too? Let's try to find out.
The Comcast adapter is always on wasting electrcity when the TV is off! Yuk.Patty comment Friday morning December 10, 2010 that its like we are back in the dark ages of TV again.
Comcast ad biltz before help Thursday December 9, 2010.Comcast installed new adapter. Work complete by 08:15 after troubleshooting problems.

Comcast is trying to implement hardware/software technology which will make trips to customer sites unnecessary.
Dr Sobolewski elaboratates on the Comcast problem.
Trips by personnel to the site where the microcontroller is installed is costing them too much money.
[w]ithout the need to upgrade equipment or for an engineer to visit and reconfigure or swap out the device.
Comcast wants to eliminate the need for site visits by maintenance [and increasing prices] over its cable.
Comcast problem is addressed in our 80C51 VM SCADA project. But we are communicating over Internet and wireless.

Cable Complaint Form

Hello Comcast,
We feel that we have been a victim of deceptive Comcast TV service advertising.
We ordered and installed a xfinity Comcast adapter on Monday December 5, 2010.
Our quality Samsung controller was rendered inoperable.
The adapter Comcast xfinity controller is very inferior to our Samsung controller.
We phoned a Comcast representative to discover that our rates will increase from about $12.99 to $29.99/mo to receive the same channels we previously received.
We disconnected the Comcast xfinity controller on Monday December 6, 2010 and missing channels returned.
However, on Tuesday December 6, 2010 our channels disappeared and we got this message. CNBC, History Channel, Discovery, and outdoor sports, the channels we mostly watch, are gone.
We ordered the upgrade from the representative to receive our old channels on December 6, 2010.
The representative scheduled installation of a new adapter for Thursday morning December 9, 2010.
Concern of many is what information are these controllers gathering and returning to Comcast?
I ask that Comcast send me a jpg of an affidavit telling us what information is collected by Comcast.
Please respond before our adapter is installed Thursday morning December 9, 2010.
Sincerely,
william h payne

Internet service and help from Comcast when problems arise has been very good.
Monday December 6, 2010 was ou4 first bad experience with Comcast.

Listen to Comcast representative give inaccurate information.
We unhooked device, reconnected to the cable and we are back to where we were.
Looks like another possible scam to force customers to upgrade.
We were told by Comcast that if we did not get the box our service would not work after about the middle of December 2010.
Comcast customers say billing tied to digital upgrade was 'deceptive'.
Here's the adapter we received.
Note activation requirement.
Devices containing microcontrollers, especially those with the ability to communicate, can have 'unadvertised features' which allows spying.

for one of the most visible examples.
Tuesday December 7, 2010 Comcast disabled most of the channels we watch including CNBC.
We removed the adapter seen above. Here's what we get when we try to view the channels which were available Monday December 6, 2010.
Listen to the message delivered with above sequence of visual message.
