Here's Mr Mattioli explanation.
Mr Mattioli describes electric meter running backward. We have not seen this yet. We have seen two electric meters in solar PV installations, however.
Listen to Bryan's explanation.
Germany's Example.
Why would one want to use solar electricity produced for home consumption when it can be sold to PNM for about $.13/kWh and bought from PNM for slightly over $.10/kWh?
Pending expected Florida Public Service Commission approval, GRU customers can sign up for the feed-in tariff as of March 1. Participants signing up during the first two years of the program will be guaranteed a fixed rate of US $0.32 per kilowatt-hour of electricity produced for 20 years.http://home.comcast.net/~bpayne37/solar/loslunassolar/loslunassolar.htm#cstseminar
EVs run on 57% coal, 17% natural gas, 20% nuclear and 6% hydro.
57 + 17 + 20 + 6 = 100%. That doesn't leave much room for solar and wind generation of electricity.

Fraud Alert
by Kelly Greene Monday, May 17, 2010
Scam artists increasingly are targeting people trying to repair their nest eggs. Here's what to watch for.
Alternative Energy
Heightened awareness of global warming, along with President Barack Obama's challenge to end U.S. dependency on foreign oil, has created a pool of baby boomers receptive to "green" investments -- some of which are fakes, Mr. Huddleston says. ...
Steering Clear of Fraud
Although every investment has its own set of wrinkles, there are some basic ways to steer clear of various types of investment fraud. If it seems nearly impossible to evaluate an investment product's underlying risks, "avoid it like the plague," Ms. Crawford says.

Friday May 14, 2010 PNM SOUTH WARNING -- PNM business and residential customers in Otero and Lincoln counties could see monthly power bills increase by more than 50 percent, the executive director of the Otero County Economic Development told the Ruidoso Village Council this week.Ms Kelly Zillowed our home and added solar panels!
Ms Mattioli brings up a excellent point about the weight of the panels.
Panel weight would cause the roof to deflect downwards thus pulling the
tar paper away from the edges likely causing roof leaks.
The flat roofs you see require maintainence at least once a year to prevent
leaks.
Ms Mattioli addresses this issue too.

If a device has a microcontroller in it we always purchase the extended warranty.
Reason is that micro is smart enough to ask "When was I purchased? What is the date?, Has the warranty period expired? Was the extended warranty purchased?"
If the warranty has expired and no extended warranty purchased, then there is a [good?] chance that the micro will make the unit fail.
And you might say, "They wouldn't do anything like that?" Ask Iranians' opinion.

Here's the meter measuring solar output to PNM grid. It is running backwards - clockwise.
Just to the right of below meter is a second meter which is an ordinary kWh meter. It is running counter-clockwise.
These homes aren't using the solar generated electricity directly. Rather output is being fed back into the grid. Grid tie Inverter tutorial.
