"One of these
things, is not like the other...."
Ok, you're all wondering why Bob was probably voted "worst dressed" at the Regional
Emmys? Well, I had not originally planned to attend the event,
but worked that night for others so that they could. I had just
finished working the University of Colorado / Oklahoma State game in
Boulder when I was assigned to cover the Emmys. I arrived
still sweaty and ripe from working the game, when soon our category
came up. When it was announced that we had won, I somehow
could not completely hide behind my camera and tripod. Almost
every one in our group from KCNC stood up and waved me to the stage.
Since I was underdressed and the fact that the station brass and the
governor of the state were sitting at the table closest to the podium,
I really felt out of place. But Shawn and Eric dragged me onto the
stage... OK, not dragged, but they insisted.
Tuxedo Rental (had I rented
one) $75
Fancy new dress for the wife (if she had been there) $350
Grilled Salmon, vegetable medley, white wine, etc. (no dinner for me
that night) $50
Disposable razor (had I used one) $2.00
Old Spice Deodorant (I used, it failed) $2.50
Winning an Emmy Award in your faded jeans and Lands End shirt with pit
stains..... Priceless
