2002 · Jessica’s
latest trick is to take a mouthful of food and then spray it all over everything
and everyone within range. The novelty
quickly wears off for the victims, for there isn’t much to be said for being
textured with sweet potatoes, or peas and rice. We are attempting to dissuade her from this
practice, and in the meantime I may need to get a visor. · 2/9:
Today we brought Jessica to Briones and we took a nice long
walk on one of the trails. By all
appearances, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it was all the more
special for her because it was her first time to see a horse. In fact she saw lots of them, as we met
quite a few riders on the trail. One
lady was kind enough to stop, so that Jess could examine the horse up
close. She was fascinated, and kept
looking back at us and smiling with delight! · 2/14:
Today we heard that Matt fractured his ankle. Sorry to hear that Matt. Hope it heals up soon. · This week we made a lot of childproofing
modifications to the house. Jessica is
watching all the work, and taking notes.
· We’re
beginning to see the first signs of Jess doing a forward crawl. Occasionally, instead of rolling sideways
towards her objective, she uses her arms and legs to move directly toward the
target, commando style. · 2/21:
PB became a US citizen at a ceremony in San Francisco this
morning. Katherine and Jessica were
there. · 2/24:
We brought some bread for the ducks at the lake today. Jess was very excited. Katherine had to stop her from putting her little
fingers too near their beaks. This
weekend was also the first time she used a spoon
to feed herself. She’s not an expert
yet by any
means, but we think she has the idea. · Jessica has begun to clap hands. Thus far she’s
not making any
noise. · Weather is really nice in Northern
California at the moment. You can tell
spring has arrived. · Jess is getting better at pulling herself up onto her knees. She still can’t get all the way to a standing
position without assistance. · 02/28:
Today Jessica managed to sit up by herself from a crawling
position. The first sign of this new
skill was when we found her sitting up in her crib, holding on to the bars. Up to now, if you put her lying down, that’s how she stayed. · Our little girl is very fond of music. She has a variety of different dances: 1)
She bobs her head and does a sort of wriggle and shake. 2)
She sways, with her arms outstretched. 3)
She moves her shoulders up and down, and rocks her head from
side to side. |
