· 03/04: It looks like there are three, or maybe four more teeth on the way - on the upper gums this time. · Our daughter is a regular little chatterbox. It seems at this stage she is producing all of the sounds that are humanly possible, having not yet decided which language she wants to speak. Anyhow, she uses her own words to interact socially with the people we meet when we’re out and about. She also likes to gesture a lot with her hands, which was a source of amusement for the shoppers at Trader Joe’s last week. We were standing at the checkout and anyone entering the store was greeted by Jessica waving her arms and kicking her legs gleefully. Later I noticed that she was carrying on some sort of semaphore communication with an older lady several aisles down from us. · We’ve just heard that Sarah Bracken finally convinced her mother to get her a little puppy. I guess she knew she just had to persevere. We’re looking forward to seeing a picture of it. · Jessica can now pull herself to a standing position when she’s next to the bars of her playpen, or one of the many gates we’ve now installed in the house. The place is beginning to look like Fort Knox with all the bars from the safety gates, and the hearth guard we’ve installed around the fireplace. · It’s funny to see Jess actually starting to show an interest in books, apart from eating them that is. She often settles down for periods of up to ten minutes with a nice hardcover book, and looks for all the world like she’s reading it! She seems to lose herself in the experience, and you can hear her mumbling away, while gently moving her finger over the illustrations. · Jessica has suddenly started pointing at things of interest. · She can now walk around the perimeter of the room, as long as she has some piece of furniture to hold onto. · |
