Mountain House once was a satellite earth station operated by AT&T Long Lines. This site was presumed to be part of the Transcontinental Cable Route as there are numerous pole markers in the area and adjacent to the site. The site is situated just North of Highway 580 in the Altamont Pass near Livermore. It sits in a slight depression amongst the numerous wind generation stations located throughout the rolling hills in the area.
The site seems to be maintained on a regular basis as everything is freshly painted and debris cleared. Much of this site is monitored by cameras both standard and infrared. No matter where you go at this site you have a camera monitoring you.
The FCC currently lists active licenses for Pacific Satellite Connection, Inc. (Dba PACSAT) for the area. The mobile satellite truck in the third picture below (Which looks like the only thing not maintained) has PACSAT stenciled on it. When browsing the PACSAT web site there is a picture of Mountain House. The page mentions a new site in Livermore, and that it's a "work in progress." Also, according to them, the POR (Pacific Ocean Region) dish is operational but the AOR (Atlantic Ocean Region) dish is being modified for transmission.
