Originally, this car was the six-cylinder version of the V8 Hammer; same suspension, same body kit, same Hammer wheels (although replaced by C36 versions in this case), same body color paint job (painted grill has been removed), but instead of AMG dropping in the M117 V8, they dropped in a bored, stroked, AMG-built 3.2 liter m103.

I own three Mercedes, but two have the same purpose – I’d like to sell one of those. The two that have the same purpose are the 1983 500SL AMG and the 1987 300E AMG; they both get driven rarely and I only take them certain places so they won’t get screwed up. Both are in excellent condition, but the manual r107 AMG is a car I just won’t part with.

This is a real 1987 3.2 AMG -
- The MB Service Booklet states AMG Central as the original dealer in 1987
- I have the original, body-color painted, but not installed, “3.2” badge.
- Notice the 2nd air inlet on engine – that’s an AMG 3.2 engine thing
- AMG Central-only welded ducktail spoiler – super rare
- I found an AMG Road America Weekend Rally pass under the front seat – this car and my 500SL were at that rally in 1987
- White AMG suspension coils
- Crap, just drive it. It hauls absolute butt - definitely not a stock 300E.

Engine is an m103 bored and stroked to 3.2 liters (245 hp and 239 lbft), 10.2 compression, polished ported head/intake, hot cam, AMG exhaust, 3.27 LSD rear, full AMG body kit, rolled wheel-well lips. All of this was done by AMG in 1987 when the car was new to the tune of $70,000. 0-60 in 6 seconds, 150 mph top speed, getting 22 mpg highway (calculated by my hand).

Known ownership history. Mercedes Benz records from 1996 to 2004 (20,000 miles to 41,000 miles); all independent records from 2005 to 2008 (42,000 miles to 68,000 miles).

Drives very well and very tight – steering, suspension, and switchgear. Idles great, excellent oil pressure, super cold AC (R12), excellent tranny shifts. No rust. No leaks.

Excellent condition interior. Dash had cracks on it when I got it, I had it professionally replaced for $2250. Seats firm and comfortable. No rattles and no squeaks while driving – tight on the interior as well. Some peeling of the leather on interior pieces - normal for most w124s.

Excellent condition exterior. The 21-year paint was faded with door dings, so it was repainted with DuPont ChromaBase then wet-sanded down to 2000 grit. Looks spectacular, feels like wet ice – smooth. No major accidents – all VIN tags are on all the body panels. Non-original parts are the grill and wheels, otherwise all original.

In my possession, I’ve (1) had the new dash installed, (2) new rear subframe bushings, rear control arms, new underdash AC bellows, fluids all changed, new engine mounts, new alternator, and new rear main seal.

I like my cars as close to perfect as they can be – this one is as close as it can be. Has low miles, drives great, hauls butt when you get on it, looks spectacular, and turns a lot of heads. A very rare car – Hartmut Feyhl of RennTech wrote me an email saying there couldn’t have been more than 20 of these made in the US in the late ‘80s. It cruises in traffic as easily as it cruises at 120 mph – safe and solid; you’ll certainly be the only one around.
