It is always hazardous to propose a new paradigm, particularly in a contemplative field such as history (technical history included). The author hopes that he has adequately justified the need for a new and different look, and that the practicioners in the targeted fields find his efforts constructive.
If this format proves to be a more interesting and effective way to arrange information for the student of the locomotive, it follows that consideration should then be given to extending the program to other wheel arrangements, and possibly to expand the definition of the "Rio Grande Family" to include other, less directly related lines, such as the Colorado & Southern and Colorado Midland. Another possible enhancement would be to add a directory to sources of published photographs, photo prints, and scale drawings.
There is obviously more work to be done on this project, even within the current scope, and the author humbly invites such additions, corrections, and referrals to additional sources as readers are willing to share.
If this paper does no more than incite new discussion on the different ways in which roster data can be presented, then the author shall consider his efforts well rewarded.
