Everything around us corrodes, decays, and breaks down. Even the most prestigious automobile left out in the weather will eventually become a rust bucket. This is equally true of living things; roses lose their petals, droop and die. Sometimes we lose our jobs, our marriages fall apart, our health fails, and eventually we all die. That’s life. We live, we die, then what? That’s the question.

Jesus is the answer. Although his life was taken away 2,000 years ago, he still lives and offers all who follow him hope, healing, and life beyond the grave. Jesus died for the world and was raised from the dead three days later. In his death he suffered the hell and separation from God that we deserve because of our own personal sins—rebellion against our creator and selfish acts against our fellow humans. But in his resurrection, Jesus opened the door to eternal life. We may die, but Jesus’ followers anticipate the moment in the future when Jesus will call us back to life, never to die again.

Are you feeling rusted out and broken down? Do you want to know the hope, healing, and wholeness Jesus offers? You can. The Bible says: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Do you believe? If so, simply act on your belief through repentance and baptism and daily seeking his best for your life (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 5:1-2). As your maker, God knows how best to restore all the brokenness in your life.

Jesus’ followers meet regularly to support and encourage one another and to work together in helping others. Find a church that teaches the Bible, trusts Jesus, and serves others. Join in the greatest mission on earth—sharing the news that although life rusts, Jesus restores!
