Bowling Pin Matches are an excellent introduction
to organized shooting matches.
CAREFUL - BOWLING PIN MATCHES ARE ADDICTIVE

While many good shooters participate in our matches,
the majority of us are less than perfect.

$2 per person per match (24 participants).
We usually have 4-6 matches per event.
Our matches utilize a single elimination format.
5 bowling pins are placed 12 inches from the front edge of a 4X8 table.
7 rounds per magazine or cylinder.
2 shooters commence firing on command.
The winner is determined by who's last pin hits the ground first.
The winner continues to advance through the bracket.

Instead of "King of the Hill" we now shoot the last bracket of the day
as "Pinheads".
We cut the heads (top 4-5 inches) off of used bowling pins
and use them instead of full sized bowling pins.
This is a .22 only match.
Even standard velocity ammo sends the pinheads flying.
Same fees and rules apply except that we allow up to
10 rounds in the magazines.

In the past we would shoot a "King of the Hill" competition for $1.
The "King of the Hill" matches have 5 pins placed
on the back edge of the table.
The pins can be knocked off with a .22. Any pistol caliber is allowed.
The winner of each round stays "up" to shoot against a new challenger.
However a pin is added to the winners table each time he/she wins.

Matches can be canceled due to weather.

Equipment Information

Most of our shooters are successful with 45 acp semi-auto pistols.
(230 gr bullets loaded slightly hotter than standard loads seem to work well)

Several of our shooters are successful with 44 magnum
revolvers.
(240 gr bullets or larger downloaded to improve recoil recovery time
seem to work well)

Several of our shooters are successful with 10mm pistols.

The results for 40 cal seem marginal for the average shooter.

357 magnum works well if not downloaded much.

We now allow 9mm shooter's pins to be placed closer
to the middle of the table.

We now allow 38 spl shooter's pins to be placed closer
to the middle of the table.

We require anyone shooting the mighty 500 magnum
to use pins that have already been shot.

Other cailbers can be competetive.

Bring Extra magazines and speedloaders.

Holsters and Mag Pouches are NOT required.

Bring at least 100 rounds of ammo.
