Climbing & Rifle
at Camp Rotary
On November 7 the troop went to Camp Rotary to do some climbing and shooting sports. We stayed in a cabin and it worked out great considering the weather (rainy and cold). On Saturday the troop hiked to the Rifle range where the scouts received shooting safety instruction from a BSA Shooting Instructor. The scouts had a great time and you could see real improvement in their skills. After shooting for about 3 hours we went back to the cabin for lunch. After lunch we went to the climbing tower, but we were no optimistic about the climbing because it had been raining off and on for 2 days. Of course a wet climbing surface is not safe. Fortunately, they have some climbing challenges on the inside of the tower, a "chimney climb". It worked out great. We took the troop out for pizza in Clare. The scouts and leaders had a great time.
