When I'm in the field photographing I use a 35 mm camera and mostly negative film, sometimes 35 mm slide film. I prefer negative film because it's more forgiving and has more latitude in tonal gradation for producing prints.
I then take the processed film, pick an image and scan it into Photoshop CS. Once the image is scanned into Photoshop I work on it by cropping, sizing, adjusting color or black and white, spotting out dust, and as a final step I sharpen the image giving it a cleaner look and bringing out more detail.
After completing the printmaking process in Photoshop CS I print the image using archival inks. The inks, both color and black and white, will last about eighty years under normal lighting conditions. Direct sunlight or prolonged periods of fluorescent light can be damaging to the image.
All images are available as prints, including many not shown in the portfolio. Contact Bruce Savadow if you'd like to see more selections.
