Traveling Coal Shiploader - Philadelphia, PA

Structural design of a 10,000 tph ship loader utilized for loading coal into ships.

Unique features consisted of:
· Ship loader travel of 1000' along dock.
· Boom travel of -15 degrees to +75 degrees storage and latch position.
· Shuttle structure located within the boom that travels lengthwise along the boom enabling coal discharge to various ship cargo holds.
· Telescoping chute with slinger hanging from the shuttle structure to enable coal discharge to specific locations within the ship cargo holds as well as minimize dust pollution to the environment.
· Structural calculations that considered many loading conditions required to account for variability of loads due to angle of boom, travel of shuttle and angle of the telescoping chute slinger.
