Boy Scout Troop 150

If you are interested in the Boy Scouts, come visit us. We meet in West Salem at the Peace Lutheran Church located at 1525 Glen Creek Road (meeting map). Meetings are on Monday evenings; gather at 6:45 pm and dismiss at 8:30 pm. The first Monday of every month is reserved for the Patrol Leaders Council (only scout leadership need attend).

We provide an active outdoor program year round.  Please check the Troop Calendar for specific activities and meeting dates. This year we will embark on numerous campouts at various locations in Western and Central Oregon. Next July’s summer camp is scheduled for Camp Pioneer in the Cascade Range southwest of Mount Jefferson. To view photographs of recent campouts or events, visit our Photo Gallery.

We encourage rank advancement of all scouts. During the past year, over 75 percent of the scouts advanced at least one rank, with many of our scouts now at the Life Scout rank and knocking on the door of Eagle Scout. We are particularly proud of the scouts advancing to the rank of Eagle Scouts. The Eagle Page recognizes scouts obtaining this highest rank in scouting.

The Troop uses a variety of methods to communicate information (Troop Communications).  This site is also designed as an aid for scouts to find links to useful websites, view their rank advancement status, or find a merit badge counselor.

The new centennial edition (12th ed.) of the Scout Handbook is now available!  With the new handbook come several rank requirement changes that will take effect as of January 1, 2010.  Click these links to see a list of the new requirements and a “crosswalk” comparison of the new handbook to the old handbook.

December is a busy month with the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season – and the same is true for our scout program.  December and January are big months for the troop because it is during these two months that we do our annual fundraising project.  On December 12, 2009 we will distribute flyers informing families in our neighborhoods that we will pick up and recycle their Christmas tree.  Then on January 2, 2010 we will again make our way through the neighborhoods picking up and recycling Christmas trees.  Plan to attend!  Hot cocoa, chili dogs, and chips & salsa for all!  Funds raised pay for awards throughout the year – and you will earn money to help pay your way to summer camp!
