Scout Troop 150
If you are interested in the Boy Scouts, come visit us. We maintain active advancement and adventure programs throughout the year. To view photographs of recent campouts or events, visit our Photo Gallery.
We meet in West Salem at the Peace Lutheran Church on Glen Creek Road. Meetings are on Monday evenings between 7:00 and 8:30 pm. One meeting every two months is reserved for planning purposes. Please check the Troop Calendar for specific meeting dates. This calendar also lists all scout events scheduled for the 2007/2008 scout season. We have a very active camping and event schedule, with many of the activities coinciding with merit badges being taught during the year. This year we will embark on numerous campouts at various locations in Western and Central Oregon. Summer camp is scheduled for Camp Meriwether.
This site is also designed as an aid for members of Troop 150. Scouts can find links to useful websites, view their rank advancement status, or find a merit badge counselor.
Our troop continues to expose its scouts to a variety of experiences. We compete annually in the local Camporee, the Scout Expo and the Scout-O (orienteering competition).
The troop encourages rank advancement of all its scouts. During the past year, over 75 percent of the scouts advanced at least one rank, with many of our scouts now at the Life Scout rank and knocking on the door of Eagle Scout. We are particularly proud of the scouts advancing to the rank of Eagle Scout during the past few years. The Eagle Page recognizes scouts obtaining this highest rank in scouting.
The Troop's annual fundraiser is recycling Christmas trees. These funds are used for equipment repair and replacement, summer camp fee contributions, and special events or activities for the scouts. This year, the tree drive will occur on January 5, 2008 at the Peace Lutheran Church.
