Welcome, O Stranger passing by . . .
You have stumbled onto something unique, for herein lie the collective memories in word and image left by the more than two hundred people who excavated at the site of ancient Halieis, Greece, between 1962 and 1980.

Check out the contents of this site via the sidebar, left. See and read about amazing exploits on land and in the sea. Be sure to browse the two or three hundred photos to be found here in one department or another--see how great we all looked back then.

New Feature
One by one, all eight photo pages are going to an easier-to-use thumbnail format. This is a work in progress, so be patient!

Please note:
It shouldn't be evident on the surface, but the Halieis website has been migrated from Geocities to Comcast. Bookmark the new web address! And please, contact Barba Thomá if you find any broken links.

Here's what people are saying: "Halieis redux--what a postmodern idea if there ever was one!" ... "Halieis, for all its tribulations, was a really important experience for me" ... "I have nothing to contribute. Halieis was hardly a defining moment for me" ... "Those were very happy times for me, and I treasure them." ... "I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Porto Cheli and have fond memories of both the people on the dig and the town."
