The sound you hear is Classic Bubblegum music coming down the tracks and the folks at Buddha are throwing the switch by releasing "Best Of" sets for the 1910 Fruitgum Co., Ohio Express and The Lemon Pipers. The ride is short but there's enough to make us want to board the next train.
Clocking in at a mere 33 minutes and 25 seconds, the set is even shorter than the Fruitgum CD and leaves out classics like Peanuts, Cowboy Convention, Down In Tennessee, Roll It Up, Mary-Ann, and Shake. The sound quality again varies but sounds crisp all the way around and is far superior to any other Ohio Express collection. And although their first album is ignored (Try It would have been a nice addition), the "real" Ohio Express are represented by the classic She's Not Comin' Home. Again, the emphasis is on the group's up-beat chugga chugga songs and that just can't be beat.
A great "starter" collection that will get your steam engine started for more, more, more of that Ohio Express bubblegum music.
