Bubble Gum World
By: 1910 Fruitgum Co.
(F. Marcus)
1968You think you're in a bubblegum world
Playing in sandboxes too
I just thought to tell you girl
You're too old to think it's trueYou should know by now girl (girl!)
You're too old to play games (yeh!)
It is getting to the point
You're going a little insaneYou think you're Miss Muffet
And I'm the spider coming after you
All the time you're playing games
And all the time you're being so untrueYou should learn by now girl (yeh!)
That there's a time to stop (stop!)
Put all your toys away
And close up your candy shopYou should know by now girl (girl!)
You're too old to play games (yeh!)
It is getting to the point
You're going a little insaneYou think you're in a bubblegum world
Playing in sandboxes too
I just like to tell you girl
You're too old to think it's trueYou should know by now girl (girl!)
You're too old to play games (yeh!)
It is getting to the point
You're going a little insane
ANDY RATING:

A bit weak lyrically but still a lot of fun. Maybe a bit too simple and sparse production-wise, but that seems to be a Fruitgum trademark.
NOTES:
. . . "And close up your candy shop" . . . that's dirty, right? . . . one wishes Mr. Marcus spent a bit more time on the lyrics . . . a couple more minutes to make the song clever or dirty or something . . .
