Down At LuLu's

(Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba)
(Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba)

See the neon sign
Kids-a stand in line
A-money clenched in hand
Oh, they wanna hear that band
Yes sir!
Bass is thumpin'
Everybody's jumpin'
The drummer keeps beatin'
Everybody's meetin' down at Lulu's
Down at Lulu's

Lights are red and blue
The music gets to you
A-swept right off your feet
You can't escape that beat
Because . . .
The bass is thumpin'
Everybody's jumpin'
The drummer keeps beatin'
Everybody's meetin' down at Lulu's
Down at Lulu's

Come get it!
Allright . . .

See what's dancin' by
Are gonna catch your eye
You may come alone
But that's not how you'll go home
Because . . .
The bass is thumpin'
Everybody's jumpin'
The drummer keeps beatin'
Everybody's meetin'
Down at Lulu's (That's where it's at)
Down at Lulu's
Down at Lulu's . . .

ANDY RATING:

This follow-up to Yummy, Yummy, Yummy was a disappointment to Jeff Katz, Jerry Kasenetz and whoever was a Ohio Express "member" that week when LuLu didn't become a bigger hit. That it even charted is a shock to me. The song just isn't that good.

NOTES:

. . . simple song . . . pretty much punched the clock on this one . . . another typical self-reflexive Bubblegum song . . . though not on the level of Shake and Soul Struttin' . . .
