Run Run Billy Porter
By: Shadows Of Knight
(Kasenetz/Katz)
1969Annie came to town this morning
Lookin' for her cheatin' man
She said Billy Porter hadn't done what he oughta
And she's gonna get him if she canYou better run run Billy Porter
She's got a gun gun Billy Porter
You better run
(You better run)Billy stayed out all evening
And he didn't come home at all
And while Annie was a sleepin' her Billy was a-creepin'
Creepin' up a Ellie May's wallYou better run run Billy Porter
She's got a gun gun Billy Porter
You better run
(You better run)Last time I saw Billy
He was headin' on over the hill
Well he took Billy flyin' tears and a cryin' [need help with this line!]
I'm gonna catch you yes I willYou better run run Billy Porter
She's got a gun gun Billy Porter
You better run
(You better run)
ANDY RATING:

If you have a friend who is a bit skeptical about bubblegum music -- and there are people like this out there -- play this song (loud!) and you will win them over to the pink side. It rocks, it gums, it rules!
NOTES:
. . . the Quick Joey Small lyric similarities suggest that Joey Levine had a hand in the crafting of this song . . . and maybe a measure of 10cc in the name of Graham Gouldman? . . . evidently not as the song is credited to Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz, known more for producing than writing . . . certainly one of the most underrated bubblegum songs of all time . . .
