How does it work?
It connects to the Prius audio-visual system and tells the car that a Toyota 6 disc CD changer is present. It then listens for CD related commands and translates them into infra-red remote control signals for the Jensen unit. The audio signals from the Jensen are sent to the Prius stereo exactly like a factory CD changer's signals are. Emulating a 6 disc changer doesn't mean you can only have 6 folders of MP3s - I have disks with 25 folders and over 200 songs. The Hybrid Stereo Adapter does not interfere with any operation of the car/screen functions including navigation. It also has enhancements for folder navigation that are much better than the disc selection features of Toyota's 6 disc changer. If you already have a CD player or 6 disc changer, you must replace it with the Jensen.
