Following in the tradition of Olympias Applejam Folk Center, the
Oldtime Medicine Show is a family-oriented concert series dedicated
to bringing traditional, acoustic music to the South Sound area. Created
in 1992 as a part of a 20th anniversary celebration for Snake Oil, the
Oldtime Medicine produces concerts in a smoke and alcohol-free atmosphere
once-a-month during the school year. Come and enjoy the variety of an
open-mike, the old-time/bluegrass music of Snake Oil, and a wide range
of guest bands - all in a friendly, down-home setting with delicious,
grange-made refreshments. The programs begin at 8 pm with an open mike
(the first three acts to sign in at the door), followed by a short intermission,
then Snake Oil plays three numbers and introduces the main act for a
half hour set. Another short intermission is followed by Snake Oil and
the main act, bringing the show to a close before 11 pm. It all happens
at the Prosperity Grange.
