Here is the best description I’ve ever read about our vice-president, Richard "Dick" Cheney, written by Arianna Huffington and distilled from her 1 April 2003 column .

Former CEO of Halliburton. Cheney used offshore tax shelters, overstated Halliburton revenue by $100 million, did $73 million worth of post-Gulf War I business with Saddam Hussein and then denied it. Oversaw Halliburton's consistent over billing of the Pentagon (a habit that led to $2 million in fines). Helped to systematically gut decades-worth of environmental protections. Fought tooth and nail to keep secret the records of his very energy-industry-friendly energy task force.

You’ll know him if you see him [when not in his undisclosed, secret location or GOP fund-raises] by Cheney’s distinctive sideways smirk and his implantable cardioverter defibrillator (a device the size of an electronic garage door opener) embedded in his chest.

Known Associates: Ken Lay, anyone with a campaign donation for the GOP, and little buddy George W. Bush.

Warning: considered armed to the teeth and extremely dangerous, especially now that the Bush administration has expressed a willingness to use "overwhelming force including nuclear weapons" if rubbed the wrong way. Cheney has blithely shrugged off four heart attacks in the past so what does he have to lose? What makes us think we can stop him from blowing up the world?
