The Bush Stand on Family Planning As these editorials and articles point out, George Bush has consistently fought meaningful family planning. Whether he is removing a $60 million US commitment to family planning in Africa or working to overthrow the 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v Wade, Bush continues to attack any family planning program. One wonders at the reasoning behind a man who would grant rights to an embryo yet deny health care to a child or protect that child's right to a clean and healthy environment, decent education or right to not go to bed hungry. It is also interesting that Bush would deny family planning to African nations where over population, disease and starvation walk arm in arm. Is it better to prohibit abortion and conception in order that a child can die of disease or starvation? Do you think the Bush plan for AIDS in Africa is a good idea?
