Shockwave at Miramar MCAS 2009

Here's a shot of the 'batmobile' tow car, with the Shockwave truck behind it.


The 3 P&W J34 engines can be seen in this back view.


This is the twilight show, where flames from the twin stacks and jet engines really pop.


He's not generating much thrust here, just doing a lot of dump and burn. Very flashy, and an awesome picture!


The truck is capable of generating 36,000 horsepower, and can accelerate at 3Gs!


Here he is at the starting line, this time generating real power while in afterburner!


Zipping by, probably doing over 300mph!


Mach diamonds can be seen in the afterburner flame.


At the end of the run, parachutes are deployed to slow the truck down.


The next day, Shockwave is up against the Mig-17 in a race!


Of course Shockwave wins since the Mig is going as slow as possible! Still, the truck had to race from a standstill, while the jet had a running start.
